One of the most useful skills a human being can master is becoming a good writer. In order to thrive in the world, one must be an effective communicator. Also, effective writing implies the ability to think clearly as well.
In order to write effectively, you must have an understanding of three important rhetorical conditions: why you are writing (purpose), to whom you are writing (audience), and the situation (context) in which your communication is taking place (awareness of context is demonstrated by the Tone--formal or informal—which the writer adopts).
In a “rhet sim” the player is asked to simulate the decisions a writer makes when she or he is composing a document (letter, e-mail, report, essay) intended for a specific reader or set of readers.”
